I’ve been riding motorcycles since I was 12. I continue to ride a large green Kawasaki Vulcan Vaquero cruiser today. Whenever I get extra stressed at work or in life, a nice ride down a country road does wonders for my spirit. While researching some low cost transportation options for a stepson, I realized there’s a whole world of inexpensive Chinese made dirt bikes and scooters. Before I knew it, I was bitten and I placed an order at txpowersports.com for an RPS Hawk DLX 250CC bike in green.
There are a ton of YouTube videos from guys who unbox, assemble and setup their new Hawk 250 motorcycle. I have definitely benefited from their labors. These bikes don’t come fully assembled unless you want to pay an extra $299 for that service. I love putting things together, so naturally I took the cheaper option.
The bike arrived in under two weeks, and it took about 4 hours to assemble. My stepson was a definite help, and he enjoyed the process. I’ve only put a handful of miles on it, but it’s been a lot of fun to ride. It’s street legal too (unless you live in California).
The Hawk DLX came with a DVD for setup instructions/assembly. But apparently they didn’t have anyone at their Chinese factory who could speak fluent English, so they used a computer text-to-speech program. The result was often comical. So after completing the assembly of the bike, I decided to take their 15 minute DVD video, and provide my own voice and commentary for assembly instructions over their video. It took several hours of editing, but I hope other new Hawk DLX customers will benefit from it.
