In the final post of my series about my faith journey, I speculated about how mankind came up with religion. It is likely that our human ancestors needed a way to combat the brutality of human violence that was all around (due to survival of the fittest). The smaller, weaker man REALLY needed a solution in order to get an advantage over the bigger, stronger man. And religion was a great answer, as it promised reward for obedience but horrible consequences for killing and stealing, etc.
The comedian Patton Oswalt has a really funny sketch called “Sky Cake”, which a YouTube user named 43alley uploaded along with his funny sketches to go with. The end result is below. Note: there’s some language so if you’re easily offended, beware (NSFW).
